Anxiety and Connecting to Nature
Following on from discussions around anxiety and depression it is well documented that spending time in nature is beneficial during the times people experience these conditions.
We therefore started recently to include walks with clients, along a local cycle track. The area is full of fauna and flora and local wildlife, such as birds, rabbit, otters etc.
We encouraged the clients to observe and identify flowers, shrubs, trees and bird song whilst walking in nature.
The charity has resources with details of local birds, fauna and flora to help connect to this activity and to learn.
All the clients enjoyed the activity and we anticipate doing further on a regular basis.
